Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Johnson Memorial Mass Choir

As of this time the choir has been inactive until the Lord sends us someone who can continue this work.  In search and prayer for new Choir Director as well as Musicians. Please keep us in prayer.

The success of this ministry is based on three things:

A personal relationship with Christ – This is first and foremost.  How can you effectively minister to anyone when you have not truly met the Chief Minister for yourself?  Christ is able to minister through us when we sing his praises.  Music helps prepare hearts for the Gospel, and your relationship with Christ will make you more sensitive to how serious it is to bring forth sincere praise and touch a heart.

A musical gift – God did not create us all to be singers and musicians.  What I love about Him is that He gave so many different gifts to the church.  He called us to make a joyful noise unto Him, and we intend to do that as best we can.  If you find that you are having extreme trouble learning the music or following the notes, I encourage you to take it to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to guide you.  It may be that your gift lies elsewhere in the church.  Everyone operating in their God-given gifts makes our church grow strong!

Rehearsal attendance – Let’s face it, if you cannot attend, you will not know what’s going on.  This is vital so we can do our best.  This is the time when we change things that aren’t working, practice new songs or sharpen old ones.  You must be there to be effective.

Please take it upon yourself to communicate with the directress if and when you have scheduling issues.

Each month we will work on at least two songs for the following month.  That will give us enough time to feel comfortable with the songs we will sing.  We will go over those songs at the beginning of rehearsal and wrap up by going over the songs we will sing for Sunday, when necessary.  Our choir sings every 1st and 2nd Sunday of the month.

Attire

When we visit other churches, we wear white in the spring/summer and black in the fall/winter.
